The development of aquaculture worldwide has led to projections that aquacultural production will overtake that of wild fisheries in the course of this century as the major source of fish protein for humans. Studies on the interactions between culture systems and natural environments are important for analyzing and managing the environmental effects of aquaculture and vice versa.
